As we celebrate cultural diversity, here is a Hispanic custard dessert recipe that everyone should try out. They are also called the Hispanic caramel custard dessert!

Want to give this recipe a try? Here is a step-by-step flan, recommended by our lovely sister, Madison!

What You Need:
  • 1 cup of sugar & 1/2 of sugar (for different purposes)

  • 1 can of sweetened hardened milk

  • 2 cans of evaporated milk

  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons of water

Steps:
  1. In a sauce pan place: 2 tablespoons of water and 1 cup of sugar. Once it begins to boil, stir until it dissolves and becomes a syrup. *Keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn*

  2. Place syrup inside the flan pan (usually a glass tray/pan), let it cool for at least 5 minutes in the fridge (or until you hear it cracking).

  3. Mix the following ingredients and place in pan with hardened syrup: condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla extract and the 1/2 cup of sugar.

  4. Fill a large aluminum pan with water and place pan with flan in it. Bake at 350℉ for 1 hour.

  5. Once done, let it cool for 30 minutes at room temperature and then place in fridge overnight and enjoy the next day!!
